Special painting from old black and white photograph

This is particular favourite of mine. Painted for a local gentleman, a retired sailor and this photograph was of his father serving in 1944. His father is right in the centre of the painting. Tonal paintings are very effective and we copied this photograph totally on to a Large Oval Vertical. It makes for a dramatic and effective picture...

Cottage Sign with John Deere Tractor

This order was for a customer who loves his John Deere tractor and we had to make sure we had the correct model and get the colours and markings exact. He also wanted the tag line "Nothing Runs Like a Deere" curved around the top of the picture.

Hand Painted Signs for Small Businesses

This isn't a great photograph, taken on the hoof during packing but these are an unusual design that I thought was interesting. They were for a customer who runs a cattery from their home. As the name was long and they liked this plain cat motif we copied a very plain and narrow font which makes it easily readable. We think it works as a simple design.

House Plaque Special! Personalised Gift

This sign was a surprise gift for a customer's husband. They had renovated a barn on their farm and decided to name it after their favourite holiday spot the Gower Peninsula. Hand painted on one of our Large Oval Verticals with the lettering over the picture which stands out against the sky and foreground - a lovely personalised nameplate.

House Sign for the Cat Lovers Among Us!

Here is a plaque we painted this week for a customer in Derbyshire. A typical cat owner having given the home over to the rule of the cat hence 'Tillys Palace'!! Notoriously difficult to paint we have to spend a lot of time to get a cat portrait correct and especially if they are a tabby as it is important to get the markings right. We think it works!!

House Sign in Situ! ...with hand painted wren

A customer has sent through a photo of their sign in situ! It is always nice to see them in place and it just shows how easy they are to place. We supply the rawl plugs - screws and cover caps for free. Simply mark the screw holes - drill - tap in the rawl plugs - screw in until resistance and then pop on the cover caps. It's as easy as that!!

Badgers in the Grass

We painted this sign from an illustration supplied by the customer. It is a bit unusual that the customer did ont want any numbers or words on the sign so we were able to fill the entire sign with the painting of the badgers. It was also nice that the picture worked out that the adult badger with its head up neatly fitted to the shape of the Small Arch sign

Wording on Your Sign

Thought while I was on the subject of fonts and text I would mention that the we will do our best to arrange whatever text the customer wants onto their sign. The Hollins Cottage sign is not an extreme case but it does show how we can fit quite a lot of text onto the signs. We can not fit War and Peace onto a sign but we do our best with the size of the font

Sign with a Special Font

The flowers and butterflies are one of our standard picture designs. The customer requested a special font for the sign which we were happy to do - the font looks really good but it is hard to do it took us quite a while to get it to look right. We like the font but I dont think it will be making it into our set of standard fonts (special request only).

Sign of the Week - Customer Design

This was a design sketched out by the customer which we just loved. It is a fanstastic playful design which was a pleasure to paint. We hope it brings its new owner a lot of joy - it certainly made us smile.
The picture also shows the original design that the customer emailed to us to work from. What more can I say Gills Garden.
